Proxy pricing FAQ
Can I buy proxies without a monthly commitment?
Yes, you can buy proxies without commitment. Bright Data offers a Pay-As-You-Go plan for all proxies (Data Center, Residential, ISP, and Mobile) as well as for Web Unlocker, self-service Web Scraper IDEs, and SERP API.
What types of IPs can I buy?
Bright Data has four types of IP networks: Datacenter, Static Residential, Residential, and Mobile. Datacenter: Offering a machine-generated IP, Datacenter IPs are the most cost-effective and are commonly used for mass crawling of non-sophisticated target websites. ISP Network: With real residential IPs provided directly through ISPs, these IPs are most suitable for use cases that require permanent, non-rotating IPs, or for whoever needs a small amount of residential IPs. Residential Network: Used to access and target the most sophisticated websites, these rotating residential IPs allow you to fully emulate a real user. Mobile Network: Connect through a real, rotating, mobile connection of 3G/4G/5G, these IPs are used for targeting highly sophisticated websites and collecting mobile-specific web data.
What proxy solutions are you offering?
Bright Data offers 4 proxy solutions to cover every use case and need. Anonymous proxies: With the industry’s best-performing anonymous proxies, you can view and access any website anonymously without getting detected or blocked. Anonymous proxies hide your real location and instead route traffic through our large Residential IP Network, comprised of over 72 million IPs. Rotating proxies: Bright Data’s award-winning rotating proxies allow you to scrape public data from any website with a 99.99% success rate. These proxies constantly replace the proxy IP address, ensuring that your scraper won’t get flagged or blocked. Developers can take full control over the IP rotation using the easy-to-use dashboard in our Proxy Manager. Shared proxies: Whether you need rotating or static IPs, shared proxies allow you to collect data, manage social media accounts, verify ads, and so much more. Since usage is shared, these proxies are most cost-effective than dedicated proxies. Dedicated proxies: Enjoy exclusive access to the world’s best dedicated proxies and keep your IPs for as long as you need. Dedicated IPs are available in 195 countries as well as every major city on the planet.
Which proxy should I use for scraping?
When it comes to web scraping, the best tool to use is Web Unlocker. The Web Unlocker uses either a Datacenter or Residential IP and fully handles all of the unblocking, including CAPTCHA solving and automated retries. Your scraper/crawler simply sends a query to Web Unlocker and all the unblocking is done in the background, allowing you to save time and money. Using Web Unlocker does not require going through the KYC process.
Is there a KYC process?
We work hard to keep our network and our customers safe and strive to prevent abuse on the Bright Data network. Therefore, prior to using Bright Data’s Residential or Mobile IP network, a Bright Data representative will ask you to go through a short compliance process also known as a KYC (know your customer). The KYC process may include a quick intro video call and some verification of your company or personal information.
Which forms of payment can I use to buy proxies?
You can buy proxies with PayPal, Payoneer, Alipay, Google Pay, wire transfers, and credit cards.
How does Bright Data billing work?
Bright Data’s billing cycle starts on the 1st of each month. This means that you will be billed for your monthly account commitment automatically on the 1st of every month as long as your account status is active.
How does payment verification work?
Bright Data maintains high compliance standards based on the principles of deterrence and prevention of malicious activities through enforcement, ensuring the ethical use of our network and its safety. To authorize payments we perform a one-time per-authorization charge. This authorization allows us to make sure a valid card is being used, and that the customer has sufficient funds in their account to make a purchase. Once authorization is complete, we reward the customer with extra credits that can be used towards any proxy use.
What happens if I join Bright Data in the middle of the month?
If you join Bright Data in the middle of the month, your first minimum account commitment payment will be charged on the day you join and usage will retroactively apply only to the days in which your account was active during the month. For example: If you start the Proxy Starter plan on June 25th, your plan has a $500 minimum monthly commitment and you make your first payment of $500. What will happen on July 1st? Our system will see that your account was active for only 6 days during June which accounts for 20% of the month, so the relative part of the minimum monthly commitment will be $100. Unless the cost of your usage was higher than that, $100 will be your cost for June. We will send you an invoice and take $100 from your balance against June’s cost, leaving your balance with $400. Since on the 1st of every month your balance needs to comply with your minimum monthly commitment, we will now charge your credit card for $100 in order to top it back to $500 to comply with your minimum monthly commitment for July.
How is bandwidth calculated?
The bandwidth is calculated according to the sum of data transmitted to and from the target site: request headers+request data (POST)+response headers+response data. Note that traffic used during your trial will be listed on your dashboard but will not be counted towards your bill.
Can I limit my daily usage?
Yes. Select “Proxies” from the menu. Under each zone there is a column for “Usage spend limit” where you may limit your daily usage by either:
- Bandwidth (bytes)
- Money spent (Dollars)
Once you reach your daily usage the Zone will automatically be suspended. Note: The zone limit is calculated every 15 minutes and will not take effect immediately, therefore, a zone might go over its limit by 15 minutes of usage.
What happens if my usage goes beyond my minimum account commitment?
When you have used 85% of your account balance during a given month, you will receive an email requesting that you add funds to your account. If you do not add funds to your account, your account will continue to operate until you have used 100% of your account balance. Once you have reached usage amounting to 100% of your account balance, your account will be suspended unless additional funds are added. We recommend turning on the “auto recharge” to keep your account active and working.
Why was my account blocked due to a billing issue? And how do I reverify my account?
An account is blocked due to billing issues for one of the following reasons:
- A discrepancy between payment method and personal details
- The user has logged in from a country that differs from where the credit card is from
- Too many attempts to process a declined payment
- Failure to authenticate a credit card payment using 3D secure
You can reverify your account to clear a billing issue. If your account was blocked, you will immediately receive an email explaining how to resolve the issue. Contact your dedicated account manager or Bright Data’s compliance team at [email protected]. To reinstate your blocked account, you will need to provide the following:
- For non-registered companies:
- Photo ID, driver’s license, or passport
- A photo of you holding the ID
- A photo of the flagged payment method
- For registered companies:
- A company registration form
- A photo of the flagged payment method
If my usage in a given month is less than my minimum account commitment, will my funds roll over to the next month?
If your account remains in “active” status for the entire month, your monthly commitment will not roll over to the next month, regardless of whether your usage charges fell below the minimum commitment. While in ‘active’ status, your usage and billing calculations start over fresh on the first day of each month according to your price plan and monthly commitment.
Will I receive an invoice?
Yes. Invoices are sent between the 1st and 3rd of the month. The invoice will provide details of your previous month’s usage. It will break down how your usage relates to your minimum account commitment (and if applicable, any additional funds that were added during the course of the month).
If I suspend my account will I keep the IPs allocated to me?
No. If you choose to suspend your account, the IPs allocated to you will not be saved.
How does automatic recharging work?
Automatic recharging can be done in one of two ways.
- Auto-recharge at a pre-set amount: When you choose this option, you will manually set a configured amount that is charged when your balance runs low (at 25% the configured amount). For example, if you choose $100, you will be charged $100, and then you will get charged $100 again when your balance hits $25.
- Monthly charge: If you do not use automatic recharge or decide to turn it off, you will be charged on the 1st of each month for your new monthly commitment. If you don’t have a plan with a minimum monthly commitment and you are using the pay-as-you-go plan, your account will not be automatically recharged.
I need my account to remain active at all times. How can I prevent my account from being suspended?
To ensure that your account is never suspended, we highly recommend that you select the automatic recharging option. It can be activated in the “billing” section of your account and ensures uninterrupted service. Auto recharge starts to work when your available balance drops below 85% of the total account balance. The amount set is entirely up to you and can be of any denomination.
What if my account is not in “active” status for the entire month?
If you have remaining funds in your balance during a month in which you were inactive, you will not lose your balance but will be charged to bring that balance up to the minimum monthly commitment on the 1st day of the next month.
